Tracey and Wayne at Holdsworth House Hotel

Tracey and Wayne’s wedding took place at the Holdsworth House Hotel, in Halifax, Yorkshire, on a calm late summer day. This was a traditional wedding, which really suited the grand surroundings of Holdsworth House, with its stately features and history of hosting bands (the Beatles) and film stars (Margot Robbie). The Bridgerton-worthy scenery made for gorgeous couple’s portraits, and after the ceremony, I had lots of fun in documentary-mode, spotting guests having a great time at the bar and in the courtyard.

The atmosphere was sophisticated, being a more mature couple, the styling was classic. If you’re looking for styling ideas for a more mature wedding or second marriage, check out this blog at Hitched. This suited Holdsworth House well, being a historic Jacobean manor. This also meant that the gardens were exceptionally beautiful - with a sweeping lawn and gazebo which are a perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony (weather permitting!). There are plenty of photo opportunities indoors and outdoors, including a courtyard with hanging lights, a bar with lovely soft window lighting, and dramatic wooden furnishings providing a regal tone. It’s great for documentary photos because no two spaces are the same, so you get a great variety of natural shots in interesting areas, making for a unique wedding album. Plus, there are loads of more private areas to take gorgeous couples portraits, without trekking miles from the guests.

Tracey and Wayne wanted to keep their day relaxed, and have fun with their close family and friends - Holdsworth House has special packages for intimate weddings, which are perfect. It was important to capture the tender, natural moments both between them as a couple and them and their friends, so we worked in couple of short couples photo sessions into their existing timeline, and kept the rest of the photos documentary-style, so we could really capture the essence of the day. See the gallery below for some of my favourite images from the day.

The album we got from this wedding is full of real documentary moments and genuine joy. Holdsworth House is a stunning example of a Yorkshire venue, and the staff are incredibly professional.

If you’re looking to get married, either at Holdsworth House, in Yorkshire, or beyond - I would love to hear from you. We can chat about my documentary/portrait style and see if it fits with your vision for your big day.
